APSEZ wins 30-year concession for two dry bulk berths at Paradip Port

Adani Ports has received a Letter of Award from Paradip Port Authority to develop and operate the CQ-I and CQ-II dry bulk berths on a build-operate-transfer basis, adding 18 MMT of East Coast capacity.

What was filed

APSEZ told the exchanges it has received a Letter of Award (LOA) from Paradip Port Authority in Odisha to develop and operate two dry bulk berths — designated CQ-I and CQ-II — under a Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) model. The company said it emerged as the highest bidder in a competitive bidding process. Per the filing, the Concession Agreement is to be signed within 30 days of the LOA's issuance, with detailed terms to follow in that agreement.

The story behind the award

The award marks APSEZ's entry into Paradip, described in the filing as India's second-largest major port and a bulk cargo gateway on the eastern seaboard. The company said the berths will feature mechanised cargo handling, deep-draft berths and large-scale storage, and are intended to handle coal, limestone and other dry bulk commodities from the mineral-rich hinterland of eastern and central India. With the addition, the company said its network grows to 16 ports and terminals across India.

Size not yet quantified

The filing states the broad consideration or size of the contract is "not ascertainable as depends on the future cargo" — so no contract value is disclosed. Revenue will hinge on volumes handled over the concession, and the commercial terms sit in the Concession Agreement, which the filing says is still to be signed. The capacity and portfolio figures the company cites are shown in the key-facts panel.

18 MMT

For a holder, the award adds a long-tenure asset on the East Coast and extends APSEZ's port network, but the filing discloses no contract value and notes the Concession Agreement is not yet signed — so the financial contribution remains undefined at this stage.
