Bank of Maharashtra Q2 net profit rises 41% as gross NPA falls to 1.25%

The public-sector lender reported higher quarterly net profit on stronger net interest income and improved asset quality for the quarter ended 30 September 2026.

What was filed

Bank of Maharashtra released a press release on its performance for the quarter and half-year ended 30 September 2026, filed with the exchanges under Regulation 30 of SEBI's listing regulations. The disclosure covers profitability, business growth, capital adequacy and asset quality, set against the same quarter a year earlier and, where noted, the June 2026 quarter.

Earnings and business growth

The quarter showed double-digit growth across profitability and the balance sheet. Net profit, operating profit and net interest income all rose year-on-year, and total global business crossed the ₹7 lakh crore mark. The bank's RAM (Retail, Agri. & MSME) book grew 24.69% year-on-year, with retail and MSME advances both expanding. Deposits grew more slowly than advances, and the domestic CASA share eased to 46.47% from 50.35% a year earlier.

Asset quality and capital

Asset quality improved further: gross and net NPA ratios were lower than both a year ago and the preceding June quarter, with a provision coverage ratio above 98%. Capital adequacy under Basel III stood at 18.51%, which the bank said includes a Common Equity Tier 1 ratio of 15.61%. The cost-to-income ratio improved on both a yearly and sequential basis.

The results update a holder on the bank's half-yearly earnings and asset-quality trend; the filing also notes that domestic CASA share declined even as the deposit book grew, a mix detail worth reading alongside the headline growth.
