Coal India Wins Letter of Award for 600 MW Solar Plant at Jalaun Solar Park, UP

Bundelkhand Saur Urja has awarded Coal India a Letter of Award to build a 600 MW solar plant at Jalaun Solar Park at a tariff of Rs. 2.73/kWh.

What was filed

Coal India Limited told the exchanges it has received a Letter of Award to set up a solar plant at Jalaun Solar Park, Uttar Pradesh. The award comes from Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited, described in the filing as a domestic entity, and covers capacity structured as two equal units, at the tariff stated in the filing.

Terms and timeline

Per the filing, Coal India must submit documents as required by the LOA and then sign the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the Implementation Support Agreement (ISA) and the Land Rights and Utilisation Agreement (LRUA). Upfront solar park development charges are payable before the ISA is signed. The company said execution runs 18 months from signing of the PPA. The filing notes the award is neither a related-party transaction nor tied to any promoter or group-company interest.

Context for a holder

The award marks a further step in Coal India's move beyond coal into utility-scale solar. At this stage it is a Letter of Award: the PPA, ISA and LRUA are yet to be signed, and per the filing the execution clock begins only once the PPA is in place.

Capacity
600 MW (300 MW x 2)
Tariff
Rs. 2.73/kWh
Estimated project cost
Rs. 2831.11 Cr

The award extends Coal India's renewable-energy footprint away from its core coal operations; for a holder it remains an early-stage Letter of Award, with the binding agreements and execution timeline still pending.
