The appointment
HDFC Bank told the exchanges that its Board, at its meeting on September 30, 2026, approved the appointment of Mr. V.N. Srivatsan as the Bank's Chief Compliance Officer — a statutory role, here made under the Reserve Bank of India's Commercial Banks (Compliance Function) Directions, 2026. The appointment followed recommendations of the Audit Committee and the Governance, Nomination and Remuneration Committee, and coincides with the completion of Mr. Rakesh Kumar Rajput's three-year term as CCO, which ended at the close of business on September 30, 2026.
The transition and the interim arrangement
Srivatsan is proposed to join on January 4, 2027 as a full-time employee, serving a three-year term from his date of joining. Per the filing, he currently serves as Head – Compliance: Overseas Banking and Subsidiaries & Data Privacy Officer at ICICI Bank Limited, with around 34 years of overall professional experience, including about 25 years in the BFSI sector. To bridge the period between Rajput's departure and Srivatsan's joining, the Bank said Mr. Venkateswaran L, currently Compliance Head – Credit, Asset Product & Regulatory Reporting, will hold the responsibility of CCO in the interim.
Why it matters to a holder
The Chief Compliance Officer is a regulator-mandated senior position at a bank, and its occupancy and continuity are governed by RBI directions. The filing documents a board-approved succession in that role, including a named interim holder for the gap between the outgoing and incoming officers. For a shareholder, this is a governance disclosure rather than a business or financial development.
