What was filed
Larsen & Toubro told the exchanges that its business vertical, L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions, has secured a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from DVC CIL Power Private Ltd (DVCCIL) — a joint venture of Damodar Valley Corporation and Coal India Ltd — for the main plant package of the 2x800 MW Chandrapura thermal power plant in Jharkhand.
The distinction matters: this is an LNTP, not the full Notice to Proceed. Per the company, DVCCIL will issue the full Notice to Proceed only once the project secures requisite environmental clearances and the LNTP period is completed.
Scope of the work
The project comprises two ultra-supercritical 800 MW generating units. L&T's scope covers the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of boilers, steam turbines, generators and electrostatic precipitators, along with associated mechanical, electrical, control & instrumentation and civil works.
The company said the ultra-supercritical technology is intended to enable higher thermal efficiency and lower specific emissions, and framed the award as strengthening its association with public-sector power utilities.
How the order is classified
Under L&T's own disclosure policy, the award is tagged 'Major'. The filing's classification table places a Major order in the ₹5,000 crore to ₹10,000 crore band. No specific contract value was disclosed; the size is indicated only through this classification band.
