Maruti Suzuki India told the NSE and BSE that it commenced commercial production at the fourth plant (Plant D) of its Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, effective 30 July 2026. Per the filing, the addition takes the Hansalpur site to a total annual capacity of 1 million units — which the company says is the first time in Suzuki's history that a single manufacturing facility has reached that mark, and which it describes as India's largest passenger vehicle manufacturing facility at a single location.

What the new plant makes

According to the company, Plant D will initially produce its flagship battery electric vehicle, the e VITARA. The wider Hansalpur facility also builds FRONX, Baleno and Swift, and the filing notes it has become a major export hub, accounting for nearly 47% of the company's overall overseas shipments in FY 2025-26.
