What was filed
On 16 October 2026, PNB's board approved the unaudited/reviewed standalone and consolidated results for the quarter and half-year ended 30 September 2026, filed under SEBI LODR Regulations 30, 33, 51 and 52. The board meeting ran from 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. The results carry a limited review report from the bank's four statutory central auditors, whose conclusion is unmodified. The filing notes the Government of India continues to hold 70.08% of the bank.
The quarter in brief
The bank reported a higher standalone net profit for the September quarter and a larger half-year figure (set out in the panel). The filing shows asset quality continuing to improve: both gross and net NPA ratios eased from a year earlier, and the Provisioning Coverage Ratio (including technically written-off accounts) rose year-on-year. Capital adequacy under Basel III remained above regulatory minimums, with the CET-1 ratio also shown in the panel.
Larger buffers and a reserve change
The filing details several provisioning moves during the quarter. The bank made a floating provision for NPAs (taking its floating-provision stock to ₹2,560 crore) and a proactive additional provision on standard advances over and above the regulatory minimum. It is also holding ₹2,252.29 crore of additional provision against 14 large stressed borrowers under RBI's 2025 resolution directions. Separately, following an RBI amendment discontinuing the Investment Fluctuation Reserve, PNB transferred its outstanding IFR balance to the General Reserve during the half-year — a reserve reclassification rather than a change in profit.
