What was filed
Power Grid Corporation of India informed the exchanges that on 30 June 2026 it acquired WR ER Part A Power Transmission Limited, the special-purpose vehicle set up to build the "WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme Part-A" inter-state transmission system. The company said it secured the project as the successful bidder under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB), taking the SPV over from the Bid Process Coordinator, REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis.
The project scope
Per the filing, the project involves establishing two new 765/400kV sub-stations in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, extending existing sub-stations in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, and constructing 765kV and 400kV transmission lines traversing Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. The SPV was incorporated on 6 November 2025 and has not yet begun commercial operations, so it carries no turnover history. Power Grid now owns it fully and will operate in the same line of business — power transmission — as its parent.
Approvals still ahead
The company noted that while the requisite approvals for transfer of the SPV were obtained by the Bid Process Coordinator, the acquired entity must still secure a Transmission License and Adoption of Transmission Charges from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission after the acquisition. The stated acquisition value is also provisional, subject to adjustment against the audited accounts of the company as on the acquisition date.
