Renaissance Global Q1 FY27 Profit Rises to ₹25.6 Crore, Aided by Absent Prior-Year Charge

The branded jewellery maker reported Q1 FY27 profit after tax of ₹25.6 crore against ₹6.6 crore a year earlier, with revenue excluding bullion up 30%.

What was filed

Renaissance Global Limited (RGL) released its Q1 FY27 press release and earnings presentation for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The filing sets out the company's financial performance and management commentary on its transition from a traditional jewellery manufacturer toward a branded, direct-to-consumer (D2C) platform.

The headline figures the company chose to feature are stated on a revenue-excluding-bullion basis. The filing notes that Q1 FY27 revenue from operations included bullion sales, which management adjusts out of its featured growth numbers. On a total-revenue basis including bullion, the consolidated P&L shows higher revenue than a year earlier.

The profit story

The sharpest movement in the quarter is at the bottom line, where profit after tax multiplied several times year-on-year. Part of that swing is a base effect: the Q1 FY26 comparison period carried a restructuring cost booked as an exceptional item, per the P&L in the filing, which is absent this quarter. Excluding exceptional items, profit before tax rose more modestly.

Revenue grew across all three reporting segments, with Customer Brands the largest by value and Owned Brands — the D2C portfolio — growing fastest in EBITDA terms. The company noted its Owned Brands EBITDA margin expanded to 11.5% from 10.1%. Gross margin, however, compressed year-on-year on a reported basis, which the filing attributes in part to the bullion revenue mix.

Strategic direction and stated targets

Management framed the quarter around two FY27 priorities: accelerating the retail rollout of its Jean Dousset lab-grown diamond brand in the United States, and optimising working capital. Chairman and Global CEO Sumit Shah said the company opened a San Francisco store in July 2026 and plans further locations in Washington D.C., Boston, Chicago and Dallas, taking the network to seven boutiques by the end of FY27.

The company also stated forward targets — a working-capital reduction of roughly ₹250 crore and operating cash flow of more than ₹300 crore during FY27, and a longer-term goal of ₹1,000 crore in D2C revenue by FY29 at an operating margin of at least 15%. The filing's disclaimer explicitly labels these as forward-looking management expectations, not results.

‡ Computed by us from the filing’s own figures — not a company-stated number.

For a holder, the quarter shows continued growth in the higher-margin Owned Brands/D2C portfolio, though a large part of the reported profit jump reflects the absence of a prior-year restructuring charge; the FY27 and FY29 targets stated by management are forward-looking expectations, not commitments.
