Sona Comstar posts record Q1 FY27 revenue, enters Robotics & Physical AI

The auto-components maker reported its highest-ever quarterly revenue and declared a new Robotics & Physical AI growth vertical alongside fresh multi-year powertrain orders.

What was filed

Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar) released its press statement on unaudited standalone and consolidated results for the quarter ended 30 June 2026. Alongside the numbers, the company disclosed two strategic moves: the launch of what it calls its "Sona Comstar 2.0" strategy, and formal entry into a new growth vertical it terms **Robotics and Physical AI**, an expansion of its existing Sensors and Software business.

The quarter

The company said this was its highest-ever quarterly revenue, BEV revenue and BEV revenue share. Battery-electric-vehicle revenue more than doubled year on year and reached an all-time-high share of automotive revenue, which management attributed to diversification across customers, products and geographies despite what it described as continued weakness in the US EV market. Growth in revenue, EBITDA and profit ran broadly in parallel, with the precise figures set out separately.

New orders and strategy

Sona Comstar reported winning three programs in the quarter — one EV, one hybrid and one ICE — spanning India, Europe and North America. A North American OEM placed orders for differential assemblies on a hybrid platform and differential gears on an ICE platform, while a New Age electric two-wheeler OEM ordered hub wheel traction motors. Production timelines run from H2 FY26 to H2 FY29, per the filing. The company framed "Sona Comstar 2.0" as an aspiration to repeat over the decade to FY35 the tenfold revenue growth it says it achieved in the decade to FY25, adding intelligent and connected systems as a technology pillar alongside electrification, and referenced a partnership with DENSO extending into high-voltage electric and hybrid powertrain systems.

For a holder, the filing pairs record quarterly figures with two strategic signals — a declared new Robotics & Physical AI vertical and fresh multi-year order wins across powertrain types — whose revenue impact depends on production start dates the company places between H2 FY26 and H2 FY29.
