What was filed
Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar) issued a press release alongside its unaudited standalone and consolidated results for the quarter and half year ended September 30, 2026. The company described Q2 FY27 as a record quarter across its main financial metrics, with revenue, EBITDA and profit after tax all reaching all-time quarterly highs.
The operational shift the company flagged is in its battery electric vehicle (BEV) mix: per the filing, BEV revenue crossed the halfway mark for the first time, lifting its share of automotive revenue to a record level.
Orders and new products
The company said it won multiple orders in the quarter — three BEV programs, one intelligent-and-connected-solution program and three ICE programs. The individual wins span existing and new customers across EV passenger vehicles, two-wheeler traction motors and controllers, differential assemblies for ICE passenger cars (described as the company's entry into that product), and starter motors for a North American OEM.
Sona Comstar also commercialised three new products in the quarter — a helical limited slip differential for EVs, air springs for railway passenger coaches, and rear radar sensors for two-wheelers — which it called its highest-ever in a quarter. Separately, its Driveline Division was awarded the 2026 Deming Prize for Total Quality Management by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers, which the company said recognises nine years of quality work.
Why it matters to a holder
The company framed the quarter around a structural point: battery-EV work now accounts for more than half of its automotive revenue, a share it describes as a record. For a supplier that straddles electrified and non-electrified powertrains, that mix shift — together with the pace of order additions — is the lens through which management presented the results. The order-book figures carry production-commencement timelines ranging from H2 FY27 to H1 FY29, indicating revenue that is contracted but not yet recognised.
