What was filed
Torrent Power released its unaudited consolidated financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The accompanying media release also detailed a key development completed during the quarter — the acquisition of Nabha Power Limited — and set out the company's presence across generation, transmission and distribution.
The quarter in brief
The company reported EBITDA growth of 2% for the quarter. Per the filing, this came despite a challenging operating environment, with geopolitical disruptions affecting LNG supplies and, in turn, the performance of its thermal power plants. Torrent said its Distribution and Renewable Energy businesses recorded EBITDA growth of 10% and 6% respectively, cushioning the impact.
Total comprehensive income declined year-on-year, which the company attributed to higher finance costs from increased borrowings tied to investments in its under-construction portfolio.
Acquisition of Nabha Power
The filing confirmed that on June 25, 2026 the company consummated its acquisition of 100% of the equity shares and convertible instruments of Nabha Power Limited (NPL) from L&T Power Development Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro. The Securities Purchase Agreement had been signed on February 16, 2026. NPL, now a wholly owned subsidiary, operates a 2x700 MW coal-based supercritical thermal power plant in Punjab and supplies power under long-term agreements with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited.
