Trent Q1FY27: Revenue Up 19%, Fashion Store Count Crosses 1,300

The Tata-group retailer reported year-on-year revenue and profit growth for the June quarter, alongside continued expansion of its Westside and Zudio formats.

What was filed

Trent Limited released its unaudited standalone and consolidated financial results for the quarter ended 30 June 2026, together with an investor presentation. The company reported revenue and operating-profit growth on both bases, framing the quarter around continued store expansion in its fashion formats and its Star food-and-grocery business.

The filing also carries the company's own view that, given its merchandise sourcing, price architecture and inventory-provisioning disciplines, full-year results are more representative of the business than any single quarter.

Store network and format mix

Trent said it now operates a portfolio of over 1,300 large-box fashion stores across 330 cities, including three in the UAE. During the quarter it opened one Westside and 22 Zudio stores, consolidated three Zudio stores, and entered nine new cities. As of 30 June 2026 the network comprised 301 Westside, 982 Zudio and 29 other lifestyle-concept stores, spanning a footprint of over 18 million square feet.

Emerging categories — beauty and personal care, innerwear and footwear — contributed over 21% of revenues, per the filing, while online sales made up over 6% of Westside revenues. The company said the gross margin profile of Westside and Zudio remains stable.

Star and the consolidated view

On the consolidated basis, which includes the Star food-and-grocery business, revenue and operating profit also grew year on year. Trent added five Star stores during the quarter, taking the count to 86 across 12 cities, and said own brands now account for over 73% of Star revenues.

Chairman Noel N Tata described the quarter's performance as encouraging "notwithstanding continuing macroeconomic volatility and geopolitical events," and reiterated the company's intent to continue investing in footprint expansion.

Why it matters to a holder

The results give holders a fresh read on both the pace of Trent's store rollout and the margin trajectory of its fashion formats. The company itself notes that quarterly figures are less representative than full-year performance — a framing worth keeping in mind when reading the reported growth rates.

‡ Computed by us from the filing’s own figures — not a company-stated number.

Quarterly results and store-count updates are among the most-watched disclosures for a holder tracking Trent's expansion and margins; the company's own note that full-year figures are more representative is a relevant caveat when interpreting the quarter.
