Yes Bank Yet to Decide on AT-1 Bond Coupon Due 18 October, Cites Coupon Discretion

The bank says it retains the right to exercise coupon discretion on its AT-1 Bonds and has not decided whether to pay the coupon that fell due on 18 October 2026, pending its reading of the Supreme Court judgment.

What was filed

Yes Bank issued a further update on the Supreme Court judgment concerning its Additional Tier-1 (AT-1) Bonds, following earlier disclosures on 15, 16 and 18 October 2026. The bank said it is still examining the judgment in detail and evaluating all available options and steps going forward.

This is an interim update, not a resolution: the bank has not completed its evaluation and announced no final decision.

The coupon question

The core of the disclosure is coupon payment. The bank said that, under the terms of the AT-1 Bonds as set out in their respective Information Memoranda, it retains the right to exercise coupon discretion. It added that it has been receiving queries from certain bondholders about payment of the coupon.

A coupon payment date fell on 18 October 2026 for one series of AT-1 Bonds. Because its evaluation is incomplete, the bank said it will communicate its decision — on whether exercise of coupon discretion is required — only after finishing its assessment, which it expects to complete in due course, with further disclosures as required under the Listing Regulations.

Operations

The bank said its day-to-day operations and customer services continue seamlessly across all branches and digital channels without interruption. No figures on capital position, bond quantum or financial impact were provided in this filing.

For holders, the open question is whether the bank will pay or withhold the coupon on its AT-1 Bonds; the filing states no decision has been made and that the bank retains coupon discretion under the bond terms, so the outcome and its bearing on the bank's capital instruments remain undetermined pending further disclosures.
