Terms of Service
Last updated: 8 May 2026
These terms describe what The Portfolio Brief is, what you agree to by using it, and what we promise (and don't promise) in return. Plain language; if anything reads like legalese, please tell us so we can fix it.
What this service is — and is not
The Portfolio Brief is an editorial research assistant that summarises public filings and licensed news for the stocks you tell us you hold. We deliver a daily brief by email or Telegram, plus a web surface for your holdings.
The Portfolio Brief is not SEBI-registered investment advice. We provide no trading calls, no stop-loss recommendations, no model portfolio, and no buy / sell / hold recommendations on any security. Read briefs alongside the linked primary sources, and consult a SEBI-registered Research Analyst or Investment Adviser before any transaction.
Who can use this service
By signing in, you confirm that you are 18 or older and a resident of India for the duration of the pilot. We collect this confirmation as a self-attestation — we do not ask for PAN, Aadhaar, or other identity documents at this stage.
The Portfolio Brief is invitation-only during the pilot phase (≤10 users). If you reached this page without an invitation, you can sign up but onboarding may not complete until the cohort opens further.
How you can use this service
You may read briefs, ask questions over your portfolio, link Telegram for delivery, and export or delete your data at any time.
You may not scrape the service, redistribute synthesised content in bulk, resell briefs, or submit content automatically. We process briefs for human readers; one account, one human.
Your account and data
We collect and process your data as described in our Privacy Policy. You can export everything from Settings; you can delete your account from Settings. Deletion is reversible for 7 days; after that, your data is permanently purged.
What belongs to whom (intellectual property)
Portfolio Brief owns the synthesis pipeline, the agent prompts, the brief templates, and the user interface. You own the portfolio data you provide, any free-text notes you add, and any export you generate.
We process public filings and licensed news under their respective licences; we do not own the underlying source material.
What we don't promise (disclaimers)
We make a best effort to source briefs from public filings (BSE, NSE) and licensed news. We do not guarantee completeness, accuracy, or timeliness — filings get withdrawn, news gets corrected, models hallucinate.
Briefs are editorial synthesis, not advice. Trading decisions are yours and yours alone. We disclaim liability for trading losses, missed opportunities, and any other financial outcome that follows from reading a brief.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the fees you have paid us in the prior 12 months. The pilot is fee-free, so this cap is ₹0. This limit applies whether the claim is in contract, tort, or any other legal theory.
Termination
You can leave at any time — delete your account from Settings or unsubscribe from email. We can suspend or terminate access for violation of acceptable use, with notice via email (unless the violation requires immediate action to protect other users).
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra. We aim to resolve grievances directly via the Grievance Officer first; if unresolved within 30 days, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India under DPDP-2023 §13(1).
Changes to these terms
We will email you when we change these terms in a way that affects your rights or obligations. The Last updated date at the top of this page tracks the current version.
