JSW Energy Closes 300 MW Maruti Clean Coal Buy, Operating Capacity Now 14,835 MW

JSW Energy has completed its purchase of 100% of Maruti Clean Coal and Power Limited, owner of a 300 MW thermal plant at Korba, Chhattisgarh, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary.

What was filed

JSW Energy told the exchanges it has completed the acquisition of the entire equity of Maruti Clean Coal and Power Limited (MCCPL) from Kolahai Infotech Private Limited and SFI Parcel Services Private Limited, following the definitive agreement signed on 13 June 2026. MCCPL is now a wholly-owned subsidiary, and the transaction adds a 300 MW thermal plant at Korba, Chhattisgarh. The company said its operating capacity now stands at 14.8 GW.

The asset and its contracts

Per the accompanying media release, the plant runs under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with Rajasthan discoms, routed through PTC India, with a residual PPA life of about 14 years. A further 5% of power is supplied at variable cost to the Chhattisgarh discom, while the balance of roughly 64 MW is sold in the merchant market. Coal is secured through a long-term Fuel Supply Agreement with SECL and linkage under the SHAKTI scheme. The company pointed to the plant's proximity to its Mahanadi facility as a source of logistics and O&M synergies.

How it fits the portfolio

The company described the asset as EBITDA- and PAT-accretive from day one and said the deal reduces net leverage. Within its wider footprint, JSW Energy reported total locked-in generation capacity of 32.4 GW — operational plus under construction across thermal, hydro and renewables — and reiterated stated targets of 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030, alongside carbon neutrality by 2050.
