Kotak Mahindra Bank Q2 FY27 standalone profit rises 29% to ₹4,212 crore

Lower credit costs and higher net interest income lifted profit, while margin and CASA ratios eased on a large FCNR(B) deposit inflow.

What was filed

Kotak Mahindra Bank released its unaudited standalone and consolidated results for the quarter and half-year ended September 30, 2026, following its board meeting on October 24, 2026. The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations. The media release covers the bank on a standalone basis as well as the consolidated group, which spans securities, asset management, insurance and lending subsidiaries.

The quarter in brief

Standalone profit after tax grew both year-on-year and sequentially, driven by higher net interest income and fee income alongside a decline in provisions. The bank said credit cost fell during the quarter and slippages were lower than a year earlier. Net advances and deposits both grew at a brisk pace.

A defining feature of the quarter was the mobilisation of FCNR(B) deposits through the bank's international branches, with loans also extended through those branches. The bank attributed the moderation in its net interest margin largely to this FCNR(B) mobilisation. The same inflow lifted the term-deposit base and pulled the reported CASA ratio to 38.2% from 42.3% a year earlier; excluding FCNR(B) deposits, the bank put CASA at 41.8%.

Asset quality and capital

Asset-quality metrics improved, with gross and net NPA ratios lower than a year earlier and provision coverage edging up. Both standalone and consolidated capital adequacy ratios remained above regulatory requirements. On the consolidated side, profit growth drew support from subsidiaries, including a sharp year-on-year increase at Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance, per the PAT table in the release. Consolidated customer assets under management grew 8% year-on-year, with domestic mutual-fund AUM up 10%.

For a holder, this is the quarterly scorecard: profit, loan and deposit growth, asset quality and capital are all disclosed here. The release flags that headline margin and CASA figures are influenced by a large FCNR(B) deposit inflow, which the bank quantifies separately — a point worth noting when reading those ratios against prior periods.
