What was filed
Polycab India disclosed that it received an order dated October 09, 2026 from the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), Principal Bench, New Delhi, staying and keeping in abeyance an earlier order of the National Company Law Tribunal, Ahmedabad Bench, dated October 07, 2026. The NCLT order had admitted the company and initiated the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) under Section 9 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, in a matter brought by Asier Metals Private Limited over an alleged operational debt of ₹2.79 crore.
Per the filing, the NCLAT directed that "the impugned order is stayed and be kept in abeyance till further orders". The company's appeal is scheduled for hearing on October 26, 2026.
The company's position
Polycab characterised the matter as a commercial dispute and said it considers its case strong on the merits. The company stated that business and management operations continue as usual, and that it does not expect any adverse or material impact on its financial or business operations from the NCLT order.
To underline its financial standing, the company pointed to a zero-debt position and a net cash position in excess of ₹4,000 crore, alongside its stated net worth per the audited accounts for the year ended 31 March 2026.
Why it matters to a holder
An admitted CIRP, had it stood, would have carried significant governance and control consequences for an operating company. The NCLAT stay suspends that admission pending the appeal hearing, so the proceeding does not currently constrain the company's operations. The matter remains live until the tribunal takes it up again on the scheduled date.
