What was filed
South Indian Bank released its press release on unaudited financial results for the quarter and half-year ended 30 September 2026. The bank described the quarter as its "Highest Ever Quarterly Net Profit" for Q2 FY27. The results are consolidated to include the bank's wholly owned subsidiary SIBOSL.
Where the profit came from
The bank attributed the profit growth to a steep rise in net interest income — which it described as its highest ever — and a wider net interest margin year-on-year. Operating profit also expanded. Two counter-currents sit inside the filing: other income fell year-on-year, and provisions excluding tax rose sharply. Net profit still grew, carried by the stronger core lending income. MD & CEO Mahesh Muralidhar Pai framed the quarter around a strategy of "Profitability through Quality Credit Growth."
Asset quality and balance-sheet growth
The filing emphasises a marked clean-up of asset quality — gross and net NPA ratios both fell year-on-year, and the provision coverage ratio rose. On the balance sheet, retail deposits, NRI deposits and CASA all grew in double digits, while gross advances expanded across corporate, gold loan, mortgage, business and vehicle segments. The bank said 99.10% of its large corporate segment is rated A and above, underscoring its stated focus on low-risk advances.
