Tata Consumer's Q2 FY27 group net profit rises on India demand; standalone profit dented by one-off

Group consolidated net profit and revenue rose year-on-year for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, while a Rs 64 crore standalone exceptional item lowered the parent's reported profit.

What was filed

Tata Consumer Products' board approved the unaudited standalone and consolidated results for the quarter and half-year ended September 30, 2026 at its meeting on October 26, 2026. Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP conducted a limited review of both sets of results. The disclosure is made under Regulations 30, 33 and 52(4) of the SEBI Listing Regulations.

Where the growth came from

On a consolidated basis, the company attributed quarterly revenue growth to underlying growth of 17% in the India business and 9% in the Non-Branded business. It said International business revenue was marginally lower, which it linked to a continued heatwave. Operating performance improved in the International and Non-Branded businesses, partly offset by what the company described as inflationary pressure on key input costs in the India Branded business. Group consolidated net profit rose over the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

The company reports across a Branded segment (India and International) and a Non-Branded segment (plantations and solubles). Per the filing's segment data, the India Branded business remains the largest single revenue contributor within the group.

The exceptional item at the parent level

At the standalone level, the company said profit before exceptional items and tax was higher year-on-year on improved operating performance, but reported profit after tax was lower because of exceptional items. The filing states the standalone exceptional item is a fair value loss of Rs 57 crore on a financial instrument held in an associate, plus a Rs 7 crore adjustment relating to contingent consideration paid on a business acquisition. At the consolidated level, the exceptional item reflects only the contingent-consideration adjustment. The difference is why the one-off weighs on the parent's reported profit but not the group's.

Balance sheet and cash position

The filing annexes the balance sheet and cash flow statement. Consolidated net worth and current ratio are disclosed in the Regulation 52(4) additional information. The company also disclosed, per the consolidated cash flow, an acquisition of non-controlling interest and a dividend paid during the six-month period.

‡ Computed by us from the filing’s own figures — not a company-stated number.

For holders, the results show headline revenue and group net profit rising on India demand, while standalone profit was reduced by a one-off fair-value loss in an associate that did not flow through to the consolidated exceptional item. The filing also cites input-cost inflation in the India Branded business and heatwave-related softness in international revenue. These are the company's own stated drivers, not a projection of future performance.
